Meet AJ Wessler

Plaintiff-only. On your side from the first call.

AJ grew up in Central Illinois and built his practice around direct, personal service. Before founding Wessler Law, LLC, he worked inside large corporate and insurance environments, learning how powerful defendants evaluate claims and use their resources. Today, he uses that experience to help injured people, families, and business owners understand their options and move forward with confidence.

Experience That Matters for Plaintiffs

He knows how the other side thinks.

What sets AJ apart is the perspective he brings to every case. A large part of plaintiff-side practice is understanding how insurance companies and large corporate defendants evaluate claims, defend lawsuits, and work to reduce compensation. AJ brings that perspective from more than 20 years of firsthand experience.

AJ holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU®) designation — a premier credential in the property and casualty insurance industry held by fewer than 3% of insurance professionals.

Before founding Wessler Law, AJ worked with one of the country's largest insurance companies and later served as Senior Counsel for a Fortune 50 company, where he represented captive insurance operations and supported major transportation and asset-based businesses — including trucking, rail, and barge matters.

That experience included defending and managing claims and litigation arising from:

  • Auto and trucking accidents
  • Work-related injuries
  • Railroad injuries
  • River injuries
  • Industrial accidents
  • Wrongful death
  • Products liability
  • Premises liability
  • Asbestos claims
  • Financial injuries and securities fraud

AJ explains how his insurance-industry background helps build stronger cases for injured clients.

Why That Background Gives Clients an Advantage

Defense-side knowledge, used for you.

AJ understands how claims are investigated, how liability is challenged, how exposure is evaluated, and how defense-side decision makers approach settlement and trial.

He now uses that knowledge exclusively on behalf of injured people and families — to build stronger cases, anticipate defense strategies, and pursue the full and fair compensation they deserve.

Education

AJ grew up in a small Central Illinois town as the son of a small business owner and an elementary school teacher. He attended Millikin University, where he earned a finance degree summa cum laude, and then the University of Illinois College of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude in the top three percent of his class.

At the University of Illinois College of Law, AJ received the Rickert Award for Excellence in Academic Achievement and the J. Nelson Young Award for Excellence in the Study of Taxation Law, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif — one of the legal profession's most prestigious academic honors, reserved for graduates in the top ten percent of their class. He also received awards for achieving the highest grade in his class in numerous courses, including Decedents' Trusts and Estates, Worker's Compensation, Sales, Partnership Taxation, and Federal Tax Policy.
